Hump Day

Wednesdays are by far the worst. Once they're over, it's great. But getting through it is slow and difficult. I ended up getting a false emergency call and had to fight through the mountains of Northern L.I. to get there. I'm pretty exhausted today, but I have to hit the gym. Going to work out legs today and tomorrow is biceps/triceps. I'm looking forward to the weekend. Having a three day weekend every week is great. The only thing wrong with that is busting your ass the other four days.

I forgot to mention my starting weight for this transformation. I was 273 on Monday and will not put up a new number until the end of April. I used to be around 310 last year, so I've lost some weight, but not enough. Summer is around the corner and I want this to be my best summer yet. My goal is not to get into shape for the summer. Losing weight and getting into great shape takes a great deal of time, preparation, dedication, and will power. You definitely need to set up small goals and achieve those. My friend Manny is getting married in August, so I'll try my best to get into the best shape I've been in for that occasion.

God is great and keep fighting the good fight!

Two Days In One

Since I was not online yesterday, I'll recap it quickly:

Monday - Since it is the start of the work week, I usually prepare my food in a cooler. I ended up rushing out the door, so I only had time to bring my water and protein shakes. I ended up buying a grilled chicken wrap with roasted peppers...great combo! After work, I delayed going to the gym, hoping it would not be packed. I ended up going at midnight. It was still packed. Out of nowhere are tons of teenagers and college students flooding the gym. I still ended up getting some cardio in and working out my shoulders for 15 sets. I didn't use my Nitric Oxide pills. Definitely do not take a stimulant before the gym if you go late at night. I ended up going to sleep like 2am or so. Definitely did not get the greatest amount of sleep.

Tuesday - Today is going to be my rest day. Since I lift on Wednesday and Thursday, it's important to take a break and get a decent amount of sleep. Even though I'm blogging this late, at least I'm not lifting like a madman right now. As far as meals go, it's simple: I eat the same thing Monday through Thursday due to work. I always start my morning out with eggs whites and W/W toast. If I'm up very early, I'll have a quick protein shake. I pack 2 protein shakes and 2 sandwiches with me. I'll usually have a low carb meal when I return and end the night with a protein shake. When I get to Friday, I'll let you guys know what I eat when I'm home. It's completely different, considering that I have the time to prepare my meals. Anyways, that's enough for tonight. God is great and keep fighting the good fight!

Weak in the gym

So today I'm starting a new split workout..Because I did my back on Saturday, I'm skipping it for this week only. The split should be as follows:

Sunday: Chest/Shoulders
Monday: Back/Traps
Tuesday: Cardio
Wednesday: Legs/Abs
Thursday: Biceps/Triceps
Friday: Cardio
Saturday: Cardio (optional)

I got to the gym about 45 minutes before closing, so I only got my 15 minutes of warm up cardio and my chest workout. My shoulders were a little sore, but I'm going to hit them tomorrow in place of my back exercise. I work out at Planet Fitness, which kind of sucks. The dumbells (meaning weights, not staff lol) only go up to 60 lbs each, so you are limited. I'll probably convert to a new gym by September. For now, it's good enough, close to home, and cheap.

My daily eating should consist of mainly 5-7 meals, consisting of protein/carbs/fat. I'll list what I eat on a daily basis at the end of each day, just to give you an idea. I'm a big fan of Whey protein and supplements. I'm way too scared to try steroids, but I take my MVI (multi-vitamin for you non health professionals) and a Nitric Oxide supplement before I work out. It's definitely important that you eat small, drink plenty of water, and limit your carbs in the evening. I usually pack a cooler with me for when I work, consisting of 2 healthy sandwiches, 2 protein shakes, 2 pieces of fruit, and 4-5 bottles of water. I eat breakfast at home and end each night with another protein shake.

I checked my weight tonight, but I'll mention it tomorrow. I ate pretty heavy today (lots of protein shakes, steak, sweet potatoes), so my numbers are probably off.

Also, it's very important to get plenty of sleep. It's tough when you're working long hours and you have a lot of responsibility at home. But getting those 7-9 hours a day of sleep is important. If possible, try to take 20 minute naps whenever you get a chance.

Anyways, that's all I have to write for tonight. I'm a talkative blogger, so pretty much each blog feels like a novel, so just bare with it lol. I'm going to take a little quote from the Rev. Run from Run DMC. Every night, in his journal, he says "God is good". I'm going to stick with that flow in ending tonight saying:

GOD IS GREAT AND KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT!

A Special Thank You

Before I get into this new blog site, I would like to show my thanks. To my best friend Jeremy. I just want to say thank you. I've known you for so many years and you've been there for me throughout everything. Seeing your motivation and progress the past few weeks has amazed me. In essence, it has inspired me to achieve my goals and not take my foot off the gas. We will together show the masses how good old fashioned hard work can show results.

In the beginning....

Welcome all to my new blog. I was inspired by a dear friend to have a daily account of my transformation. I'm a husky guy looking to get to that all desired Promise Land of muscle. So this blog will be a way for me to show to friends and others the dedication and determination put forward to achieve this goal. Whether it's talking about diets/workouts/stress/cheating/daily life/whatever...it all hangs out here...a little description of myself...I'm a 29 year old originally from Ozone Park. I currently reside in South Setauket for the past 15 months...it's definitely a change of environment..I'm an EMT who is pursuing a higher education in the health field..I've always read and studied muscle science and fitness...it has become a hobby of mine for the past 12 years...I have all the knowledge of a Personal Trainer and Nutrionist, without the willpower..I always gave advice, but never applied it to myself...until NOW..that's my goal...use what I've been reading and researching over the years and apply it to my personal life..this isn't about a diet or just lifting weights..it's a completely different lifestyle change...I don't know how many people I see on a daily basis that are in their 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's with chronic diseases and poor health..I don't want to end up that way down the road. So it's up to me and me only to strive towards my goal. Obstacles will always be in the way. You will always be knocked down in life. But it's how quick you get up and continue that makes you that much better. I'll detail my daily workout routine with diet on a daily basis. I'll provide pictures 12 weeks from this current date to show the results. I would love to motivate even one person to change the way they live their life through diet and exercise. But most importantly, I want to keep myself motivated. Wish me luck and keep track of this blog.
